Miss Teen International 2012
As a child, I have always been all about the “fairytale life”. I had every princess Barbie ever made, and my favorite song just happened to be “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes”. As the song goes, “If you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” This year, my dream of becoming a princess became a reality when I was crowned Miss Teen International 2012! Becoming a “princess” is an amazing opportunity that God blessed me with, and wearing such an amazing crown comes with big responsibilities. I consider the title of Miss Teen International as a job, of which I plan to perform to my very best ability.
I actually have two platforms. Miracle League and Shane’s Inspiration truly work hand-in-hand. Research shows that when children are playing, they are really doing their most critical learning. Both programs focus primarily on the advantages of an “outdoor classroom”. I became involved in Miracle League my seventh grade year, and I have been involved in every step of building my hometown’s Shane’s Inspiration playground. Therefore, I feel a strong responsibility to both programs.
Miracle League is a baseball program created so that all children, no matter their ability level, can realize their dream of playing baseball. They even have their photo featured on a JumboTron when it is their turn to bat! Seeing their faces when they hit their first home run makes every hot and long practice so worth it! Most of the players come and play at My Play Club on our Shane’s Inspiration playground during their “off season”. We enjoy face-painting, music, playing on the playground, and enjoying one another’s company. It is my dream that everyone be able to experience the love that is shared at every Miracle League and Shane’s Inspiration event.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two brothers, Grayson (12) and Payne (12), and my two sisters, Wesleigh Jane (10) and Emily (8). We will also have a new addition to our family in October of 2012! I am a huge Alabama football fan, so most of my Saturdays are spent cheering on “The Tide”. I love to exercise, read, draw, paint, and travel. I also love to volunteer with Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, The American Cancer Society, and Hannah’s Gifts of Hope.
It is my sincere hope that you all never stop dreaming. If your heart can dream it, you can be it! I know that God has bestowed this wonderful gift upon me and I intend to make the most of every day I am given. I hope you will join me on this adventure of a lifetime!
